The cylinder for blankets or printing plates on an offset printing machine, is hollow and filled with a liquid, such as water or oil, to reduce vibration, noise, changes due to temperature which might reduce printing accuracy. The liquid can contain gelling, corrosion or freezing preventing additives. The cylinder can consist of a sleeve (3) mounted between two end caps with the spindle (2) passing through and with intermediate partitions (7) between sleeve and spindle. Longitudinal bars (5) are also mounted inside. Discs (9, 10) on the ends transmit drive and reduce noise and vibration transmission. An expansion vessel can be incorporated. Alternative filling openings (11, 12) can be in the spindle or longitudinal bar under the securing gap (8).
