The stirrup for fixing skis to the exterior of vehicles for transport has a U-shaped body open towards the top. The legs (3) of the body are flexible so that they will close together gripping the skis when a flexible inelastic strap (13) is tightened over them by a notched lever mechanism (8). The base of the stirrup has a groove (5) with a central notch (6) to take tubular support (20) fixed across the car, and fits onto a reversible baseplate (17) which has fixing bolts (16) and also guiding bolts (18). The pattern of the guiding bolts is different on each side of the plate.
