<p>The inter-uterine contraceptive device is made of thin, resilient plastics material. It has an essentially V -shape with the open ends of the contoured arms bent over. The elasticity of the structure biases the arms towards accidental expulsion from the uterus. The base of the device has a cord attached to it to assist removal. The extremities of the V point downwards and are tipped with gold or platinum-alloy rings which will not react with the body tissue and will show up on a scan.</p> |
