The clamp has a solid body (1) forming a channel for the safety cord, this channel comprising a fixed jaw and sides. A lower jaw (2) is pivoted to the clamp body to enclose the cord (10); this lower jaw is attached to the rope worn by the user. A stop (3) each end of the fixed jaw retains a flat spring (5). When the clamp operates, the lower jaw presses against the spring loaded stop to jam the cord. A spring and ball at the side nips the cord in its channel.
