In the event of the falling off in the delivery of a pump, and esp. the failure of the electricity supply to the pump transferring the juice collected in a trough beneath a fermenting or pressing vessel for agricultural prods., the drain valve of the vessel is closed automatically. The vessel rotates in bearings on a horizontal axis and has a drain which can be aligned to the juice collecting trough. The drain has a mechanism by which it can be closed or opened so that the juice runs into the trough and is pumped away to a storage vessel. Pref. the energising arrangement for the drain closing mechanism is an energy accumulator such as a spring accumulator, a hydraulic or a pneumatic accumulator or an electrical battery. When the closing organ is moved into the open position, energy is stored and by means of this, when required the activating mechanism can be operated so as to close the drain. Used to prevent the possibility of an overflow of the juices in the trough through the breakdown of the pump or the failure of the power supply, without continuous supervision. |
