The method of constructing the basement of a house uses standardised reinforced concrete panels. Each panel is a slab with its inside extruded and shaped to reduce the weight and to form an air gap for introducing a heat insulating substance. Along the top edges is a groove for connections for securing the floor on top. The slab incorporates weak points so that channels can be formed for service ducts. A variety of standard panels is used, including one with a window and other with cut-outs of sizes to suit the floor thickness. Other panels have a flange down one side.
