The tool has an axially movable shaft (52) with a tubular section (57). Arranged in the latter is a shaft (56) which can be rotated relative to the section (57). Its lower end (60) can be inserted into the slot of a nut (31). Since for reasons of safety the nut (31) is surrounded by an interlocking cup (32) which prevents it against automatic loosening, the tool has two interlocking members (63, 64) which are pivotably mounted on the shaft (52). By rotating a threaded sleeve (53), a middle shaft (56) bearing the interlocking members is drawn upwards into a sleeve (55). As a result, the connecting members are moved against one another and deform the rim of the interlocking cup (32), which is pressed into slots (41) on the nut (31). Application in mounting or dismounting nuclear fuel rods on a tie plate of a reactor. <IMAGE>
