Elastomer latex contains a gel-free linear cis-1,4 polyisoprene with >95% cis-1,4 units and a residual catalyst content of 0.04% wt. The latex is prepd. by (a) washing the polyisoprene soln. before emulsification without adding a stopping agent or other additives, except antioxidants, (b) emulsifying the polyisoprene soln. (c) fractionating the crude emulsion with recycle to the feed of particles with an excessive diameter, (d) eliminating the org. solvent by evaporation or extraction and (e) conc. the latex. The org. solvent is a 3-8C aliphatic hydrocarbon. Emulsification is effected in the presence of 0.1-0.8% wt. emulsifier, based on polyisoprene pref. a Na or K soap of fatty acids and/or rosin acid.
