The drive unit for a domestic washer comprises a housing (1), a drive shaft (9) driven by an electric motor by means of a belt pulley (11) and belt, and driven shaft (5). The drive unit is in a casing made in one piece and has a power take-piece in the form of a hollow wheel (4) which on its open side faces the drive shaft (9) bearing in the form of a lug (10). The housing (1) has a cavity (14) gripping over the bearing lug (10) in the bell-shaped housing part (2) which accommodates the hollow wheel (4) joined to the driven shaft (5). The housing (1) is in the form of a disc with a radially extending projection (15). It has a radial rim (3) against which the bearing lug rests (10).
