<p>The engine air intake (10) heating system comprises two exhaust ducts (11, 12) supplying hot gas controlled via power operated (53) butterfly valves (13, 14). Two oblong section heating chambers (16, 17) connected with the ducts (11, 12) are arranged alongside the intake (10) separated therefrom by a heat-conducting wall (15) only. Each chamber is subdivided by a partition (18, 19) into two adjacent ducts connected in series, through which the gas flows in opposite directions. Each chamber has an upstream valve (13, 14) which valves are intercoupled so that they operate simultaneously. The chambers may be arranged below the intake and may extend below the carburettor.</p> |
