Coil winding tool for plastics coated wire - has winding mandrel working together with several non-parallel grooved cylinders

Wire spiral are produced from plastics-foated relatively thin wires, without damage to the plastics. The device consists of a winding mandrel (1) with a smooth surface. The mandrel is fitted at one end to a chuck (2) which rotates in one direction (arrow 3). The other larger dia. end is free. Radially around the mandrel several grooved cylindrical rollers rotate freely on axles (6) fitted to the base plate. The centre lines (6a) of these rollers are not parallel with the centre line of the mandrel but are arranged so that when projecting the centre line onto a plane placed through the centre line of the mandrel an enclosed angle alpha results. An axial translatory movement of the spirals towards the free end of the mandrel results.
