The CCD transversal filter has two spatially separate transfer paths (I, II) each with charge-displacing electrodes (O-N). The nth displacement electrode in the first path is electrically connected to the (N-n)th displacement electrode in the second path. Signal charge in the first path can be rerouted and transferred to the second path. The two paths are parallel and the rerouting is such that charge moves in opposite directions along the paths. Rerouting is accomplished by appropriate diffusion in the substrate.
