Signal transmission system for rail vehicles - has AC lines along track with equal lengths at junctions to reduce unwanted reflections

The signal transmission system has a dual line supplied with a.c. and laid along the track to form a loop with one side along the centre of the track, i.e. between the rails, and the other side outside the track parallel to one rail. The train has an aerial that couples inductively with the line. At the points where different tracks meet, line sections (1, 4, 6) having roughly the same length are laid so that unwanted reflections are avoided and only small phase errors occur at track junctions.
