The combined lift flap and aileron for a glider has the flaps conventionally retractably mounted along the wing trailing edge with the ailerons on transverse hinges along the flap trailing edge. Over at least part of their length the flaps are divided transversely, the after portion being hinged to the normally supported forward portion. A setting mechanism for the former coupled to that for the associated aileron has a cam-and-follower coupling actuated by a linkage from the forward portion. This varies a crank length to render the mechanism ineffective with flap retracted.
