The motor vehicle lamps are connected by a switch to a voltage, and the connection between the switch and the lamp is connected through a resettable signal store to the control input of a signal pickup. The signal memory (14) is connected to a voltage divider (21) supplied with a stabilised d. c. voltage. It has three resistors (22-24) connected in series. The junction between the resistors (22, 23) is connected to the monitored lamp (12) and through a timing element (25) to the setting input (S) of the resettable memory unit (14).
