Sealing pipeline leaks - by introducing sealant between adjacent flanges and a peripheral boundary formed by wire

Leaks between bolted adjacent flanges of pipe sections are stopped by removing >=1 bolt, fixing a valve to the aperture thus formed, wrapping wire between the flanges, with-drawing air from the space defined between the wire and the flanges, and introducing a sealant (e.g. a rubber, silicone or PTFE powder) into the space through the valve.
