1511672 Hydraulic brake boosters ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 2 May 1975 [13 May 1974] 18332/75 Heading F2F In a brake booster with a prestressed elastomeric or other spring 11 and a valve actuating sleeve 14 between a pedal rod 5 and a booster cylinder 22, a central valve 32 for selectively connecting the cylinder 22 to an outlet 36 or a pressure fluid inlet 35 is operatively connected to the sleeve by a connection 30/23 which is breakable after the valve has changed from its relief to its pressurizing condition. In Fig. 1 a transverse pin 30 passing through the valve spool 31 is urged against a flange 23 of the sleeve by a spring 37, a clearance, which is taken up on booster failure, is provided between elements 7 and 8, which are slidable within the sleeve 14, and the spring 11 is disposed between a flange 9 on the element 7 and a housing 10 which abuts the sleeve end 13. The clearance may be provided between the piston 20 and a single rod replacing the rods 7 and 8 (Fig. 3, not shown). In Fig. 2 the sleeve has a conical portion engaged by a valve spool with its axis perpendicular to the sleeve. In a modification of Fig. 1 (Fig. 4, not shown) for operating dual brake circuits, one circuit is supplied from the booster cylinder 22 and the other by an extension of the piston 20 forming a master cylinder piston. |
