PURPOSE:The fermentation mixture containing micophenolic acid or its treated product is adjusted in pH below 7 to form high-purity crystals, thus producing industrially and inexpensively micophenolic acid. CONSTITUTION:The fermentation mixture resulting from the cultivation of a bacterium producing micophenolic acid, or the solution obtained by removing the cells by filtration, or crude crystal solution or mother liquer after crystallization is adjusted in pH below 7 by adding sulfuric or hydrochloric acid, thus producing high-purity needle crystals of micophenolic acid. |
