PURPOSE:To provide a desulfurizing agent of high desulfurizing efficiency, by mixing powdered calcium carbide with dust collected by a dry dust collector attached to a closed furnace for manufacturing calcium carbide. CONSTITUTION:A desulfurizing agent obtained by mixing 100 parts by weight of powdered calcium carbide, pref. of cumulative mean particle diameter not larger than 50 mu, with 10-100 parts by weight of dust obtained by a dry dust collector attached to a calcium carbide-manufacturing closed furnace. The desulfurizing agent is, if desired, granulated by use of a binder such as tar, or pitch etc. |
