By the arrangement of a gear pump at the discharge end of a planetary roll extruder, the result is achieved that a discharge screw, usually arranged at the end of the planetary roll extruder, is no longer required on the one hand, special advantages being achieved therewith on the other hand. In particular, it is to be emphasised that a high, very uniform mould pressure is obtained without the thermally sensitive materials being excessively heated up again by shearing and that the residence time of the material in the planetary roll part can be controlled by the separately adjustable rate of the gear pump.
