PURPOSE:To enhance coating efficiency and recovery rate of unused coating material, air flow rate in the coating zone is specified in a horizontal automatic electrostatic coating apparatus. CONSTITUTION:In an automatic electrostatic coater 5, the area of the recovery hopper aspirator opening is made smaller at the horizontal section 10a to 10f than at the vertical section 10g to 10j. The aspiration power at the recovery hoppers is made larger at 10a to 10f than at 10g to 10j. The air flow rate at the coating zones is made larger at the horizontal zone 8 than at the vertical zone 9. A car body 2 to be painted is transferred by conveyor into the horizontal coating zone 8 where air of higher rate flows near the coating gun 4 to effect that uncoated paint material is effectively guided through the recovery hoppers 10a to 10f to the recovery unit 12, resulting in increased coating efficiency and the recovery of uncoated paint when the body 2 is transferred in the vertical coating zone 9. |
