PURPOSE:To prevent a cylinder block from being damaged due to the freezing of cooling liquid in a water jacket in the cylinder block, by providing a protector with a thin part. CONSTITUTION:The protector 4 is made of a metal such as brass or aluminium alloy so that the protector is hollow. The thin part 6 is provided in the internal opening the protector near its front end 5 so that this end is closed and the diameter L of the thin part 6 is larger than the that S of the front end of the internal opening. A lid 8 is provided on the other end 7 of the opening of the protector 4. The protector is fitted in a cast hole 1 of the cylinder block 3 so that the thin part 6 faces the interior of the block. If the cooling liquid in the water jacket 9 is frozen, the thin part 6 is ruptured to protect the cylinder block 3 from damage. |
