The simplified solar energy converter requires relatively little space and at the same time is easy to mfr. and mount. It concentrates the solar radiation for conversion by photovoltaic cells. The load carrying frmae (2) features a holder (4) exhibiting two degrees of freedom. The holder supports the optical system (5) for concentrating the solar radiation and comprises coplanar lenses (6) of spherical shape. The foci of the lenses locate the conversion units (7) mountd on linkage arms (8). The fresnel lenses (6) are moulded from a plastic plate to decrease costs.
