The winder comprises a hook-shaped member (2, 3) with retaining elements (8, 9) for the cord or hose. The retaining elements are outwardly open clips which permit manual insertion or release of the cord or hose. The elements may be wholly or partly integral with the part (2). They may be arranged near opposite ends of the part (2). The part (2) may have a longitudinal groove (7) to receive the material (6).
