<p>A process and a device for casting metal pieces in a mould are provided. The aim is to provide an economical and fast method for producing oxydation-free pieces, which require as to their shape nothing but a slight finishing and which present particularly even and smooth metal surfaces. The process is adapted to gravitational or bottom casting, and comprises the introduction in the mould (1) from the top, before starting the casting, a predetermined amount of inert gas in liquid phase, and continuously introducing during the casting inert gas which comes out through an opening (5) at the upper part of the mould and stopping the gas supplied just before the end of the casting. An improvement of the process is that gas is introduced in a continuous manner before initiating the casting during a laps of time which corresponds at least to the ratio between the inner volume of the mould and the volume in gases phase of the liquid gas introduced per second. </p> |
