PURPOSE:To broaden the tone width by adopting such an arrangement as having a plurality of vibration plates confronting the pressure generating layers of an ink jet head and applying selected panel voltages in accordance with the tone signals to the plurality of vibrating plates. CONSTITUTION:An ink is supplied into the body of a head 1 through an ink supplying port 9. Droplets of the ink is jetted from a nozzle 2 toward the recording paper by applying a pulse voltage S to the vibration plate 6 which is constituted by a piezoelectric element and a metal plate such as of stainless steel adhered to each other. If there are provided three vibration plates, for example, it is possible to obtain three-times increase of the mechanical displacement solely. By so doing, it is possible to broaden the tone width of the character through a control of the diameter of the ink droplet. |
