An apparatus for the rearing of spawn producing crustacea is characterized by at least one compartment 9 in which the mother is kept. The top and bottom of the compartments are bound by wire net (preferably plastics coated), 10, 11, fastened on frames 16, 15. The top frame 16 has coarser wire netting than the lower frame 15. Food may pass through the upper net but not the lower net. The mesh of the lower net is sufficiently large to permit the young when they hatch from the spawn to pass into the lower collection container 14. The floor of the lower container has on it an extremely fine net of wire or fabric 12. The young may be collected when the water is recirculated. Racks of the compartments may be stacked one upon the other and have a single common collection container 14 and lower mesh 11. |
