1325173 Water gas shift reaction ESSO RESEARCH & ENG CO 30 Oct 1970 [10 Nov 1969] 51706/70 Heading C5E Gas mixtures containing CO and steam are converted to CO 2 and H 2 by passage over two or more catalysts in series, the catalysts being as described for the second stage catalyst in Specification 1,325,172. The gases are cooled before each stage to a temperature in the range 300‹ to 700‹ F., e.g. by indirect heat exchange, and may be quenched with water before the first stage. In one example, a gamma-alumina support for an Mo-Co-cesium acetate catalyst has a surface area of 200 to 400 sq. metres per gm., and a pore volume of 0.6 to 0.7 c.c. per gm. |
