X=ray powder diffraction meter operation - involves automatic correction of intensity diagram by adjustment of detector diaphragm aperture

The device has a monochromatic X-ray source with a position sensitive detector, a transport system for the detector movement along an arc, suitable for the Bragg-Brentano method. The plotted intensity diagram of spatial distribution of the diffracted radiation for a given detector position (0) is evaluated. The measured diffraction intensities are modified and corrected by the so-called Lorentz (L) and polarisation (P) effect. The correction of the LP factor is carried out by adjustment of the quantity of radiation falling on the detector by control of the detector diaphragm aperture.
