PURPOSE:To improve the pilling and snag resistance of polyester fibers, by treating the fibers containing a specific amount of a polycarbonate having a specified structure with hot water. CONSTITUTION:(A) polyester consisting mainly of repeating units of formula I: (n is an integer 2-6) is incorporated with (B) 0.1-10 wt%, preferably 0.5-5 wt%, a polycarbonate consisting mainly of repeating units of formulas II and/or III (Ar and Ar' are aromatic groups; X is -O-, -S-, -SO2-, or formula IV or V, preferably having a molecular weight >=10,000, and spun into fibers. The fibers are then treated with hot water at 80-160 deg.C or steam to give the desined fibers. |
