PURPOSE:To raise the efficiency of manufacture by making formation process automatic system in which pole plate groups are built in battery case, then formation is made in the battery case, and water washing and drying are rapidly made by providing a fixed opening in the bottom of battery case. CONSTITUTION:The pole plate groups 2 subject to no formation are inserted into the battery case 1 divided into a plural number of single battery chambers and neighboring pole plate groups are connected with the connector 4 through the partition wall 3. The bottom of each single battery chamber of battery case has a concavity into which a sealing lid is fitted and also its upper central part has a notch for forming the opening 5 more than 1/6 of the opening area of the upper opening. Then, electrolyte is injected into the battery case to subject the pole plate to a formation treatment, and then the opening portion 5 of the bottom is opened for performing the discharge of electrolyte and also the charge of washing water. Then, a heated inert gas is sent to dry the pole plate groups and lastly the opening of the upper part of battery is closed with the lid 6 and at the same time the opening 5 of the bottom is air-tightly sealed with the sealant 7. |
