PREPARATION OF DIFLUOROMETHANE

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound in high yield economically abvantageously, by carrying out a gaseous-phase reaction under proper temperature conditions by the use of an aluminum fluoride or a catalyst prepared by blending the aluminum fluoride with a carrier followed by molding the blend or supporting it on the carrier. CONSTITUTION:In preparing difluoromethane from dichloromethane and hydrogen fluoride, an aluminum fluoride(preferably prepared by treating aluminum compound with fluorine) or a catalyst obtained by blending the aluminum fluoride with a carrier followed by molding the blened or by supporting the aluminum fluoride on the carrier such as active carbon is used as the catalyst, and the reaction is carried out at 200-500 deg.C, especially at 300-450 deg.C.
