<p>A planetary overdrive gear mechanism for an automatic transmission utilizing a double-acting one-way clutch with means to immobilize the cage for the one-way clutch with the rollers in an intermediate position whereby the inner and outer races are free to rotate relative to one another and a brake mechanism for the inner race of the clutch which is integral with the sun gear whereby with the brake applied and the one way clutch neutralized, an overdrive ratio is established through the mechanism, and with the brake released and the cage control released, a two-way direct drive is established through the mechanism.</p> |
