The innovation relates to an apparatus that can be adapted to any agricultural or similar vehicle and basically makes it possible to work the soil between young plants, especially in vineyards, orchards, plantations of hops or any other plantation, its characteristic being that it is capable of withdrawing the tool with which it is equipped in order to pass round the young plant without damaging it. It comprises: a support 1 fixed to the vehicle with a pivoting shaft 2 passing through it, at the end of which shaft a tool for working the soil 3 is fixed; a drive mechanism 8 fixed to the support 1 and having a control device 10 for enabling the tool 3 to pivot, and a sensor 12 positioned ahead of the tool 3 and fixed to the pivoting shaft 2 on a crank pin, itself pivoting about the shaft 2, and these act together on the control device 10. <IMAGE>
