<p>The machine cuts out and transports a block of silage, having a tractor-mounted frame with a horizontal cross-member on which a number of parallel teeth are fixed. An upright frame section is attached to the beam and supports near the top a horizontal one along which a ram travels, its piston rod moving up and down and having a knife at the lower end. This ram is moved by a folding ram between the upright working position and the horizontal rest position. The knife (4) has on the side away from the main cutting edge (6) one or more guide strips (7) parallel to the piston rod (3), and passing through the slot formed in the silage when cutting. The folding ram and the strip are so dimensioned and positioned in relation to each other that during the folding and unfolding of the cutting ram the path of the strip is clear of the folding ram.</p> |
