The wrench may be used by plumbers etc. to manipulate pipe couplings in inaccessible positions. It has an approximately semi-circular curved jaw (1) which is pinned to a short straight (2) jaw, and uses a demountable 'L' shaped hand lever (4) of hexagonal cross-section. The pinned joint permits the curved jaw to pivot relative to the short jaw. Both jaws have shark tooth serrations to their facing active edges, and the short jaw has a hexagonal opening (6) for the lever. A radial screw (3) locks the lever in the opening, and the tool may be developed for use with a chain. In the latter form one end of the chain is pinned to a screw-jack actuated pincer arm which locates the lever, the other pincer arm inc. a talon and displacing simultaneously to grip a pipe and tighten the chain.
