The safety fitting attaches to the head of a ladder and engages a half round channel section roof drainage gutter. It comprises a clamp mounted on a frame which co-operates with the gutter profile. The frame is of a ladder form, having two parallel rails connected by transverse bars and half hoops. It fits inside the gutter with the main rail housing the rolled over external gutter edge. Forks at opposite ends of the main rail may each provide for a pinned connection of a cantilever arm upon which a clamp jaw is mounted. The jaw may be of angle iron and be manipulated by a hand screw.
