Pre-assembled in a casing, the roller blind winding drum is of a hollow cylindrical construction, the ends of the cylinder being closed by fixed cup-shaped inserts with integral stub axles. Annular pillow blocks are mounted on the casing end walls to accommodate the respective stub axles each of which includes an axial bore of hexagonal section. Either bore may locate a drive shaft of complementary section, the shaft projecting to accommodate a pulley wheel and the wheel attaching to an operating cord or similar. The stub axle is grooved and sleeved to locate an adjusting screw which locks the stub axle onto the shaft, the stub axle being of plastics and the screw being accessible through a pulley window. A round section shaft may be used at the other end, fixing to the casing, and to an internally mounted torsion spring.
