<p>Oxines of formula (I), in syn and/or anti form, are new: In (I), R is opt. substd. aryl or alkyl; R2 is opt. substd. cucloalkyl, alkyl or alkenyl; and X1 and X2 are F, Cl or Br. Cpds. (I) are pesticides, e.g. with higher activity than parathion against red spider mites (Tetranychus urticae). In an example a mixt. of 1.9g cyclopropyl 4-fluorophenyl ketoxine (E isomer), 2.3g 2-chloro-6-fluorobenzyl bromide, 12ml of IN aq. KOH, 0.5g tetrabutylammonium bromide and 15ml CH2Cl2 was refluxed for 5 hr. The organic phase was sepd., washed with 2N NaOH, dried and evapd. The residue was chromatographed on SiO2 with toluene/hexane (1:1) to give 2.3g (72%) of (I; R, =4-fluorophenyl, R2= cyclopropyl, X1=Cl, X2=F), nD23 = 1.5657 (>95% E isomer).</p> |
