<p>Providing resistance to explosions or other violent assault, the panel may be used as a strong room door, and is fabricated from standard concrete filled rectangular hollow section steel members. The members may be placed horizontally one on top of another with narrow faces abuting, connected by vertical bolts (2) through aligned bores and preformed holes, and may be closed by welded steel end plates. Alternatively, the ends may be closed by 'I' section rolled steel joists and the concrete infill may be reinforced. When rolled steel joists are utilised multi-bay panels may be fabricated by first erecting the joists and sliding the infill members down the grooves formed by the joist flanges. As an alternative to preformed bolt holes the concrete may be poured after the members have been bolted together.</p> |
