Seal for roll journal in rolling mill - using two moulded elastomer rings fitted with sealing lips for oil retention

Keyed onto the roll journal is a bush (3) which rotates in the bore of a bush (6) in a housing (5). Housing(5) is located in an outer ring(2) on which an end plate(4) for the seal is bolted. End plate(4) is also a ring, and has a T-profile inside which are two seals (51,52). Seal(51) is made of elastomer, and has a body(55) with two sealing lips (56,57); and body(55) contains a conical hole for a fixing peg(66). The outer seal(52) is also made of elastomer and is next to the roll barrel, whereas seal(51) is adjusted to bush(3). Seal (52) has a body(60) with a sealing lip in the bore of ring(4) and also a ring tongue(2) supporting a profiled sealing ring(68) in ring(4). Simple design ensures rapid replacement of the seal.
