Alumina suspension dewatering installation - subjects suspension to electrophoresis in rotating anodes with subsequent agglomerate removal from anode top

A dewatering installation is for an alumina suspension and ensures that only solid deposits of alumina are removed. An increase of depositing surface is achieved. The alumina material contained in a hopper is fed via a dosing mechanism onto a belt conveyor from which it drops into a mixing tank where by addition of water from a tap and electrolyte from a tank suspension is produced with the help of an agitator. The suspension passes through a vibrating screen into a dewatering tank with overflow and drain connections. The tank is fitted with a number of rotating discs of a material suitable to form the anode part of an electrophoresis device. The rotating discs bring out a layer of deposited alumina on their surface which is then removed by a scraper assembly.
