Compounds of the formula <CHEM> wherein R<1> and R<2> are alkyl, cycloalkyl or phenyl, Y is =N- or =CH- and z is carbonyl or a derivative thereof; and salts, metal complexes, ethers and esters thereof; and isomeres of any of the foregoing, have fungicidal activity. The compounds the formula (1) are prepared by reacting a compound of the formula <CHEM> with a compound of the formula HOC - CO - R<2> (IV) to give the diketo-aloohol of the formula <CHEM> whereafter this diketo-alcohol is selectively reduced. |
