<p>A pressure regulator of the type used to control compressor output, uses a single control piston with a vented actuator. Air from the compressor (2) is passed to outlet (5) over a check valve (14). When output pressure is too high a control pressure is applied to an actuator (22) that lifts off its seat against spring pressure (42). Pressure is applied (13, 26) to the main valve piston (28) that vents to atmosphere (29, 30). When pressure falls below the set level, the control actuator seals against output pressure and a vent path is opened (21) to allow the main piston (28) to close.</p> |
