摘要 <p>Quartz glass doped with 10-30 mol.% GeO2 is used as an optical waveguide core for optical energy transmission. Intrinsic attenuation can be further reduced, e.g. to 0.1 db/km at 0.7 mu, by doping quartz glass with 5-50 mol. % P2O5, B2O3 and/or Sb2O5 in addn. to GeO2. GeO2 doping strongly decreases intrinsic attenuation with increasing wavelength. E.g. the addn. of 10 mol.% GeO2 0.1 db/km at 1 mu.</p>
