A magazine 10 including a fixed hub 14 having a central opening 16 and an endless loop of tape 20. 20 is coiled about the hub 14 and extending from the innermost wrap in the coil 22 through a slot 17 in the hub 14, across the central opening 16 and then around one side surface of the coil 22 to the outermost wrap of the coil 22. A tape drive mechanism such as capstan 53 and pinch roller 68, tape guides 62,63 and a transducer 51 of a recording and/ or playback machine 50 can be positioned in the central opening 16 to pull tape 20 through the slot 17 from the inner wrap of the coil 22 and accurately guide the tape along a path past the transducer 51. The mechanisms of the playback machine 50 enter the opening 16 through cooperating apertures 30 in a plate 29 affixed to one axial end of the hub 14. <IMAGE> |
