The bar-type grating has mountings for fixing to hospital beds etc, to prevent restless patients from falling out. To allow folding in the plane of the grating the junctions between the bars (10, 11, -12) and the mountings (3) are in the form of hinges (4), with axes at right angles to this plane. Each mounting can have one hinge half forming a C-shaped clamp, secured by means of a screw in the lower arm of the C to a supporting rail (7). The clamp opening is typically be 25 x 10mm. The hinge pin can protrude from the clamp, accommodating the pivoting head of a grating bar. |
