PURPOSE:To perform highly accurate thread rolling opertion and enable double-cut knurlings of different crossing angles and external threads of different lead angles to be formed by pressing a pair of rolling rollers from both sides of the woek to knurl the work or form screw threads. CONSTITUTION:The mounting part la of a mounting member 1 is clamped to the tool post or the like of a lathe. A revolving work a is positioned between the first and second rolling rollers 6 and 18. Next, when a screw bar 10 is spirally advanced by a handle 11, the rollers 6, 18 make contact to both sides of the work a and cause co-revolution along with the spiral advancing of the screw bar 10 because an inner barrel 4 is fitted and supported freely slidably in the axial direction by an outer barrel 2 and is in a floating state. When the screw bar 10 ls further spirally advanced, the rollers 6, 18 are pressed to the outside of the work a from its both sides, whereby bites are produced and knurling is accomplished. If parallel rolling rollers are used for both rollers and support shafts 7, 19 are made parallel to the axial line of the work a, the parallel thread knurls are formed. |
