PURPOSE:To solidify hydrophobic organic mediums by adding 12-hydroxystearic acid dissolved in a hydrophilic organic solvent to hydrophobic organic medium in the presence of water. CONSTITUTION:When solidifying hydrophobic organic medium, e.g., heavy oil, kerosene, etc., by the addition of a solution of 12-hydroxystearic acid in a hydrophilic corganic solvent, e.g., methanol, N-dimethylformamide, etc., an appropriate amount of water is added and mixed well, whereby water moves into the hydrophilic organic solvent and thereby the concentration of 12-hydroxystearic acid in the hydrophobic organic medium is increased, resulting in the solidification of the hydrophobic organic medium effectively by 12-hydroxystearic acid eventually. |
