<p>PURPOSE:To enhance productivity and to realize an electronic component equipped with a higher tracking-resistant capability by a method wherein a resin of a high tracking-resistant capability is applied and hardened and the tracking-resistant resin is formed into one with a package and rings. CONSTITUTION:A metal header 4 is contained in a package 1 of an insulated power transistor. A transistor chip 5 capable of withstanding high voltage is fixed to the primary surface of the header 4 through the intermediary of solder 6. Further, each of leads 2 is provided around its base with a ring 7. The ring 7 is constituted of such a low-carbon, highly tracking-resistant resin as a silicone resin. In a power transistor of this design, with the package 1 being coated by a highly tracking-resistant resin 8 at the base of each of the leads 2, it is protected from carbonization for a prolonged period of time of operation. Short-circuiting (tracking) between leads 2 happens very rarely, which improves the power transistor in its reliability.</p> |
